A little about how this all started…

Over the course of my life I have discovered that of all my skills and past time hobbies, there are two things in particular that I am good at and really enjoy doing:

  1. Reading
  2. Drinking

These skills are followed very closely by the other 2 things I am also quite good at and really enjoy doing:

  1. Getting other people to read
  2. Getting other people to drink

Honestly, that’s Whiskey & Unicorns in a nutshell: I found what I enjoy and spend most of my time doing, and decided to just press record and share it on the interwebs.

Usually, my cardinal rule of drinking (after no/minimal mixing, and eat something first) is that you do not post recordings of the drunken shenanigans and tom-foolery that ensued while you were letting loose and slurring words with your homies the night before… needless to say this has been the most counter-intuitive and nerve-wracking transition ever! Perhaps this is also a good time to admit that I am NOT a podcaster, so do not come expecting Joe Rogan or 2 Dope Queens level production just yet… I’ll get there, but for now, it is me learning how to do all of this shit by myself for the very first time, so just be easy.

My intention while recording these are for it to sound like overhearing your friends in another room having a drunken, but engaged, dialogue about a book they recently read. My recommendation is to listen to this podcast while you are doing other things. I particularly like it while I’m playing drinking games with my friends, cleaning up after a house party, getting ready for a first date (I don’t know why, but it feels like the right move), coloring in one of those adult coloring books, etc. Note: If you are able to actually read while listening to this, you are a champion and I commend you.

With that said, this is not a podcast or blog to be taken super seriously… if you are looking for academic opinions or high-functioning, super intellectual dialogues, you might want to go to NPR for that…. although there are some great moments of intense discussion and passionate debate, people are genuinely intoxicated, so please do not expect consistent rational thought or an abundance of properly used SAT words, ok?!

Well, now that I have over-explained myself, I’d like to welcome you to my land of Whiskey & Unicorns. Nerd out and party on.

🙂
